Security screening: After check-in, KLM passengers will proceed to TSA security checkpoints on the Departures Level. Passengers must allow at least 3 hours for an international flight and at least 4 hours during peak travel season. The KLM Terminal JFK is one of the busiest.

  • The process takes 30-90 minutes, depending on passenger volume and time of day. Evening arrivals are always busy and take longer than usual processing times. 

Baggage Claim: The baggage claim hall is located at Level 1. Baggage carousels will be assigned for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines upon arrival, so passengers must check the overhead monitors. 

  • The process generally takes 20-40 minutes after immigration clearance. 

Exit Hall: After baggage claim, passengers have to proceed through customs exit into the Terminal 4 Arrivals Hall. KLM Arrival Terminal at JFK also features information desks, restrooms, currency exchange, and waiting areas. 

Ground transportation: There is an AirTrain JFK that will connect JFK Terminal 4 to all other terminals. Official NYC Yellow Cabs have a dedicated stand outside the Arrival Halls and offer a flat fare from JFK to Manhattan at 70 USD. Car rental counters at JFK Terminal 4 can be reached via AirTrain to Federal Circle station.
