JFK International Airport Terminal 8 was opened to the public in 2008, replacing the older Terminals 8 and 9. 

Besides, Terminal 8 at JFK serves the major transatlantic routes for the Oneworld alliance members. It also underwent a 400 million USD expansion in 2022. The redevelopment added 5 new boarding gates and allowed British Airways to move its operation from JFK Terminal 7. 

The recent 125 million USD redevelopment project, ongoing in 2026m will add a new great hall, and close 60 shopping and dining outlets. 

Add to that, JFK Airport Terminal 8  is operating at ease despite the ongoing airport-wide construction, with security wait times averaging 20-33 minutes during peak hours.

Terminal 8 JFK is the primary hub for American Airlines and its Oneworld partners. Recently, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines also started their operation in Terminal 8.  Qatar Airways is currently operating here until it moves to the New Terminal One in mid-2026.

John F. Kennedy Airport Terminal 8 features three main levels. The arrivals level (Level 1) includes baggage claim carousels and a dedicated customs counter for international flights. 

The departures level (Level 3) features check-in counters, security checkpoints with dedicated access to TSA PreCheck and CLEAR lanes. The departure level is also connected to concourses A and B. 

Concourse A has gates 1-18 and Concourse B has gates 31-47. Both concourses are connected via a short walkway.
